The Nurture Verse

Welcome to Writing Heaven!

Whether you journal every day, you used to write poetry back in the day or you put off writing any chance you get - The Nurture Club’s NurtureVerse is here to support you in connecting or reconnecting with your written and spoken words.

what does ‘wild’ mean to you?

This will be a really chilled and fun time together, weaving words and connecting with our beliefs, experiences, values and feelings all about ‘wild’. There is no right or wrong ever here and you can share however much you want to.

I’d love to see you there so you can give yourself that precious time for you and your words, whatever language and in whatever form comes to you.

It would usually be £15.00 for my workshops but this will be pay-as-you-can, given how difficult the world is and the inequity abounding all around.

Date coming soon :)

Reclaim the witch

.Witch.

What does that monosyllable mean to you?

What does it mean to your community, your culture, the modern world?

To me, it feels weighed down with a modern- and manmade-manipulated misogynistic malevolence. No more - let’s reframe and reclaim the witch together!

The witch, as she or he or they were known in their communities, was originally a human unified with the earth and nature - someone with such revered and honourable knowledge of herbs, the land and their people that they would be the medicinal go-to, the birth doula for their town or village and the healer of spiritual and mental ill health for all, including the earth itself.

For those of us living and working today to connect with humans, nature, animals, the seasons, the moon, herbs, nutrition, heartfelt joy, creativity, death and truth and also to listen to, sit with and heal others and ourselves, we are the witches. Activists are witches. Compassionate HR Managers, Social Workers, Teachers are witches. Interior designers, writers, massage therapists, bakers, virtual assistants, candlemakers, coaches, painters, counsellors, photographers, reflexologists*, anyone who works with their hands or the soul. All witches.

*This is a non-exhaustive, non-exhaustible list!

Reclaim The Witch: Poetry Writing Together Sunday 5th November 2023

Come and reclaim your witch by writing with us

I love and am skilled at hosting our Nurture Verse events, using my teacher/tutor expertise sure, but with more creativity than that role allows these days! I will shape the session but you will shape your ideas, feelings and words. Short, long, simple, complex - whatever you fancy.

I will guide us all with some prompts to get us really thinking and writing about what witches mean to us individually and collectively, in our homes and globally. Together we will share our ideas if and when we’re ready, crafting poems that may surprise us, connect us unexpectedly with something long forgotten, offer us a voice we need, or bring us joy - hope even.

You’ll come away with a smile and a reminder that the world is good, humans are flawed but beautiful, and that you are powerful and awesome. The witch in all of us will thank you for finding them again.

Previous Events

Our previous IRL day at Kew in The NurtureVerse!

The NurtureVerse is our own universe of creativity centred around writing - and with a loving nod to the poetic verse.

Your ticket for our Midsummer experience at Kew Gardens is £65.00, which includes:

🧡 Your entrance ticket to Kew (worth £21.50);

📝 Guided writing and poetry by Emma in amazing landscapes, with a notebook and pen included;

🌴 A wander through the indoor rainforest at The Palm House to inspire us;

🌮 Nourishing lunch from The Orangery at Kew;

🛍 A lil nurturing goodie bag to take home.

This is an opportunity to reflect, nourish and uplift yourself in fabulous company and awe-inspiring surroundings.

I feel like this year has been a struggle and I already know that this Kew-t experience will have me heading into this summer refreshed, rejuvenated and with a hopeful outlook. Perhaps you need that too.

Come and feast with us for lunch!

Included with your ticket, and after some brilliant writing in nature, we will head for a delicious lunch together.

“It was a medley of relaxed creativity and grooviness. Just the right balance... I felt very special...thank you, thank you Emma!”

Live Poets’ Society: March 2022

Our poetry in companionship and celebration for connection in March was fantastic!

Come along to my next Live Poets’ in July 2022 for some laughs, realness, inspiration and a creative crescendo in the form of your own beautiful poem.

If you want to spend some time with a fab bunch of humans and give yourself time you absolutely deserve, plus craft a poem you can keep forever, it’d be a total joy to be in your company.

Live Poets’ Society: December 2022

Poets’ Corner

This still gives me grins and shivers when I read it @lauraleighchapman - the SWISH!
“The solitude in the dance” gets me 🥲 every time

Thank you so much, Poet Laura, for your realness, connection and expressive beauty. Can’t get over how touching your words are and how the feelings of joy, sensuality and sauce flow through so inspiringly. An hour. You lovingly crafted that in an hour! 🤯

This Live Poets’ Society is all about celebration :)

Oh hello!

This is for those that love this season and also those that don't - yup everybody!

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, this is for you if you'd love to get in to the creative, fun flow in a safe, joyous space where you can be you.

I chat, I use gentle prompts, a visualisation, some sound to suit the mood and I gently guide you to inspire yourself and write some poetry that will forever be yours.

Bring something to write with and on, eggnog (what even is that stuff), hot choc, candles, a Scrooge hat, whatever you need. Bring your whole self and your dressing gown!

It'll be an hour, though depending on if you want to share or you have the time, you're welcome to stay for another half an hour!

🧡Our focus this time will be 'Celebration'🧡

As the word comes from the Latin meaning ‘assemble to honour’ then who am I to do anything but that. Poets Assemble! ps the secret is - we’re all poets 😉

💫 Honour who you are.
💫 Honour who you were.
💫 Honour who you will be.
💫 Honour your struggle.
💫 Honour your choices.
💫 Honour your joys.
💫 Honour your voice.

💫 Honour our solidarity.
💫 Honour Mark Bonnar, heck, whatever or whoever tickles your gorgeous fancy.

💫 Honour the fabulousness we will create on 12th December and c.e.l.e.b.r.a.t.e your beautiful self!
